The Dusty Lotus is concept for an Art playstructure originally conceived for the 2020 event and debuted virtually. It is currently in development for Burning Man 2024.
The Main structure takes its shape as a tilted flower. It sits on a series of columns connected by a lattice structure to for an amphitheater towards open playa, and a sheltered gathering space amongst its roots. When viewing from afar, you see that the lily pads hold up the petals, supported by rhizomes and roots from which people can climb up.
It gently ascends in levels from the base of center, where a vaulted dome shelters and cools in the day and opens up in the evenings. Petals house resting spots, natural sound mirrors and vistas.
