Anamorphic Sculptures
2018
Digital experiments were conducted to explore the breaking of forms with code, and building them back up again as physical sculptures. In collaboration with Adrian Taylor, a grasshopper script was created to fabricate these broken digital forms into sculptural pieces that attached to the freight containers in Colour Sensitive 2018. This process of glitching digital artefacts emerged from readings of Delueze and Guattari's schizophrenic subjectivity, where subjectivity of the work shifts with its viewpoints.
Within this process, an anamorphism was developed into the sculptures so that participants would need to navigate to a certain position to see the work’s ‘ideal’ form, as the sculptures wrapped around the corners of the containers. They are assembled from approximately 400 laser cut pieces, and painted with UV reactivate paint to further play with a participants perception of the form.
